Car Detailing for Greenock Drivers
Living on the Clyde coast is great for the views, but it's hard on a car. Salt in the air settles on the paint, glass and trim all year round, not just when the roads are gritted. Add the west coast rain and you get a film that dulls paint and works into every gap.
I've been detailing cars for nearly 20 years, and I specialise in ceramic coating and paint correction. Every job is done by me, in my indoor workshop at Murray Business Park in Paisley.

Ceramic Coating: Year-Round Salt Protection
A ceramic coating puts a hard, slick barrier between your paint and the salty coastal air. Salt and grime sit on top instead of bonding to the paint, so a rinse takes most of it away. I use Feynlab and Carbon Collective coatings, with up to five years' protection. See my ceramic coatings.
Paint Correction
If the salt and rain have already left the paint dull or swirled, I'll machine polish it back to a deep gloss before protecting it. See my paint correction services.
Wheels and Glass
Coated wheels resist brake dust and salt, and a glass coating helps rain clear quickly, which makes a real difference in Inverclyde's weather.
Regular Maintenance
On the coast, a maintenance detail every few months keeps the coating topped up and doing its job.
Getting to DMD from Greenock
My workshop is at Unit 90A, Murray Business Park, Murray Street, Paisley PA3 1QT, around 25 minutes from Greenock along the A8 and M8.
If you'd rather not wait around, Paisley St James station is a few minutes' walk from the workshop and is on the Inverclyde line, so you can drop the car off and take the train home. Check the timetable first, as not every train stops there.
I also look after cars from Gourock, Port Glasgow and across Inverclyde.

FAQ
Does sea air really damage car paint?
Salt in the air settles on the car and, combined with moisture, slowly dulls the paint and attacks any exposed metal or chips. It's gradual, which is why it's easy to miss until the paint looks tired.
How often should I wash my car living near the coast?
More often than inland, ideally every week or two, with a good rinse to get the salt off. On a coated car that's quick and easy.
Is it worth the drive to Paisley?
For a coating or correction, the person doing the work matters more than the miles. I do every job myself, under proper lighting, and keep you updated with photos while your car is with me.
How long will my car be with you?
Most coatings take one to four days, depending on how much paint prep the car needs. I'll give you a clear timescale when you book.
