This stunning Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport recently underwent my Paint Enhancement Detail, designed to restore gloss, improve clarity, and bring out the very best in the paintwork. The Moonstone Grey paint received a single-stage machine polish to remove light defects and significantly enhance the overall finish, leaving the paintwork with incredible depth and shine.
Why Single Stage Was the Right Choice
With paintwork already in generally good condition, a single-stage machine polish was the ideal approach — restoring gloss and removing light defects without the time and cost of a full multi-stage correction. It's a great option for a performance car like the Clubsport, where the goal is sharpening up an already well-kept finish rather than correcting significant damage.
The Process
- Inspection – assessing the paintwork to confirm single stage enhancement was the right fit
- Decontamination – [add: wash/clay bar steps carried out beforehand]
- Single-stage machine polish – enhancing gloss, clarity, and depth in the Moonstone Grey finish
- Ceramic coating application – locking in the freshly polished finish
Ceramic Coating Protection
To ensure long-lasting protection, the freshly polished paintwork was treated with Feynlab V2 Ceramic Coating, providing outstanding gloss, hydrophobic properties, and easier maintenance for years to come.
Wheels Off, Fully Coated
The alloy wheels were removed from the vehicle, thoroughly decontaminated, and ceramic coated both inside and out for maximum protection and easier cleaning. This more thorough approach — coating the wheel barrels as well as the faces — gives longer-lasting protection against brake dust than a faces-only coating, and makes future cleaning noticeably easier.
The Result
The Golf GTI Clubsport now looks every bit as sharp as its performance suggests — deep, glossy Moonstone Grey paintwork, fully protected wheels, and lasting ceramic protection throughout.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between single stage polish and full paint correction? A single-stage polish (Paint Enhancement) removes light defects and restores gloss in one pass — ideal for paintwork already in good condition. Minor or Major Paint Correction use multi-stage polishing for more significant swirl marks and scratches.
Why remove the wheels to coat them, rather than coating them on the car? Removing the wheels allows full decontamination and coating of the wheel barrels as well as the faces — the areas most exposed to brake dust — giving more complete, longer-lasting protection than coating the faces alone.
How long does the process take? 3 to 4 days from inspection through to ceramic coating and wheel refitting.
Is Feynlab V2 suitable for performance cars driven regularly? Yes — it's a durable coating designed to withstand regular driving and washing while maintaining gloss and hydrophobic protection.
