7 Paint Correction Truths for Daily Drivers

Looking for ceramic coating in Paisley? I'm David, and I've been detailing cars for nearly 20 years from my workshop at Unit 90A Murray Business Park, Murray Street, Paisley.
Every car is prepared properly before any coating goes on: washed, decontaminated and machine polished, so the coating locks in a finish worth protecting. Whether it's a brand-new car or a daily driver that's lost its shine, I'll recommend the package your paintwork actually needs.
If you're local, you can drop your car off and walk home. Paisley St James station is about five minutes away, and Gilmour Street is under a mile.

A ceramic coating bonds to your paintwork and lasts years rather than months like a wax. It gives:
It isn't scratch-proof, and it won't remove existing swirl marks. That's why the preparation underneath matters. Read my full guide to ceramic paint protection →
Prices depend on the size and condition of your car, and I'll agree an exact price with you before any work starts.
Optional extras: alloy wheel coating (faces) £80, alloy wheels inside and faces £150, exterior glass coating £50, leather and fabric protection £60.
New cars are one of the most popular applications for ceramic coating. Protecting a vehicle from the beginning can help preserve its appearance and make regular maintenance easier. However, a new car should still be inspected before coating. Transportation, storage and dealership preparation can introduce contamination or minor paint defects. My New Car Ceramic Coating service is designed to prepare and protect new vehicles properly before the ceramic coating is applied.
Recent new-car projects have included:
Matte and satin paintwork requires specialist consideration. These finishes should not simply be treated like conventional gloss paint because aggressive polishing can change their appearance. DMD Car Detailing can assess matte and satin finishes and recommend an appropriate ceramic protection system.

How long will you need my car?
An Exterior Protection Detail usually takes about a day. New car coatings and paint correction with coating normally take two to five days, depending on the work needed and the coating's curing time.
Can I drop my car off and collect it later?
Yes. Most local customers drop off in the morning and walk home or get the train. I'll keep you updated and let you know as soon as it's ready.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?
Not always. New or well-kept paint may only need a light polish, while cars with swirl marks will look far better corrected first. I'll look at your car and tell you honestly which it needs.
Can I put my coated car through an automatic car wash?
It's best avoided. Brushes cause swirl marks, coating or not. A safe hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo will keep the coating performing for longest.
I've worked on a wide range of performance and prestige vehicles at DMD Car Detailing. Recent projects have included:
These vehicles can require careful preparation because paint condition and previous maintenance vary considerably. Each vehicle is assessed before I recommend the appropriate ceramic coating and preparation process.
